East Palo Alto Kids Foundation (or EPAK for short) was founded on the belief that geography is destiny and all children should have access to the best education. It is a community-based organization that gives grants directly to teachers working in schools in underfunded neighborhoods in East Palo Alto. And, as a result, students in these neighborhoods can have the same opportunities as children in neighboring- and better funded – communities.
Founded in 1993, EPAK is an all-volunteer organization with a record of granting over 93% of funds raised directly to teachers in the 13 eastern Menlo Park and East Palo Alto public and charter schools we serve. To-date they have funded more than 5,000 teacher-led projects.
As a result of our 2021 grant, EPAK was able to provide books, field trips, science equipment and more to an additional 40+ classrooms in the 12 schools that we serve, which benefitted up to 1,200 students in just one year.
